FOTD: Smokey eyes for work at MAC :)

We all had to do somkey eyes for work today, so this is what I came up with ;)
Quite a simple look, but I liked it :)
And I wore bronzer! Not just to contour but actual bronzer! That usually never happens, haha!

Haul: Fyrinnae!

Can you believe that this is actually my first time ordering from Fyrinnae?!

Don't worry - Except for the Pixie Epoxy on the side, everything is sample sizes (and one was even free!) so I didn't spend a crazy amount of money even though I did get a pretty crazy amount of products for a first haul from somewhere ;)

I'm afraid that this new Fyrinnae relationship could turn into a dangerous addiction.

"I woke up too late" FOTD ;)

You all probably know those days where you have all the good intentions to get up early and you end up sleeping much longer than you planned to, right? ;)

I had (another) one of those days today!

Haul: China Glaze Poolside

I have a confession. I probably checked 8ty8 every ten minutes to make sure that I ordered these polishes right when the Poolside collection was up. I said "yayyy" out loud when it was finally there - completely forgetting about my sister sitting next to me ;)

I've been super into everything bright and neon lately, so I decided to get all the six colors from the collection.

Too. Much. Makeup.

I know I always say that there's no such thing as too much makeup.

However, when trying to decide what to take with me on a four day trip to Copenhagen, I ran into a bit of a problem: The very limited space in my small suitcase!

A weekend in Copenhagen :)

I'm going to Update with MAC tomorrow, yay! :)

What is Update?
Update is something all the MAC Artists go to four times a year, and we're told about new trends, new collections, and most importantly: we get to swatch and try out all the new products! :)

I usually know about all the new collections before Update, since most of the info is posted on Specktra long before my Update takes place. But I'm still excited to try out the products myself and see which ones I'll fall in or out of love with!

Update always takes place in Copenhagen, which is a 3 hour train ride from where I live, so I'll be up early tomorrow (5 am!).

I'm staying in Copenhagen
...For the weekend, that is :)
Usually, Update is only one day, but this time, I have to be there for two days. I might post more about why later :)
Since I'll be there for work both Thursday and Friday, I thought it would be fun to stay there for the weekend!
I'm staying with a friend, and I'm sure we'll have so much fun :)

Blog updates?
I do have a couple of things I'm hoping to blog about while I'm there, but I'm not sure what the "Internet conditions" will be like at the hotel I'm staying at, and I'm honestly not sure how much time I'll have to myself and my computer ;)
We'll see.

Have a great weekend everyone :D

MAC Trend S/S '10: American Nomad

It seems like every summer needs one of the trends to be about sunkissed skin and bronze shades. With "discrete" and "effortless" being some of the key elements in this summer's bronzed look, this trend is very different from the other two trends I've written about; Dye-A-Tribe and Pale 'n' Dandy.

What I like about American Nomad, is that even though it focuses on tanned skin, it's more about that "surfer girl" feel than a girl who has been lying in the tanning bed all winter. Not that natural is always better (hey, I rarely go for natural makeup!), but when it comes to tanned skin, I much prefer to keep too dark foundations and too much bronzing powder out of the way!

When I first heard about this trend, it was in a video about MAC trends, and there was an interview with an artist working on a fashion show, who said:
"We do almost nothing on the models, but we do MAC nothing, which is a lot!"
It really bugs me that I don't remember who said it, but I haven't been able to find the video and I only wrote down the quote and not who said it.

Keep reading to see my thoughts and advice on the MAC American Nomad trend! :)

Petals & Peacocks: The bright version!

Last time I wore the Petals & Peacocks lipsticks, it was a bit of a more neutral version, so I thought it would be a good idea to show you how awesome and bright it can be as well :D

I really do love this lipstick!

FOTD: Testing the lip tars!

This FOTD was done super quick (we're talking 5 minutes... maybe 10) so it's really not that exciting... But I wanted to put the lip tars to the test.

These pictures were taken just after applying the lip tar, so they're not meant to show you the staying power. But I will tell you, that even though I didn't wear primer or liner with this, it didn't bleed at all on me! Sure, it smeared a little after eating and drinking, and it did fade a bit as well but it really wasn't bad at all!
Now, 8 hours after application, I still have red lips. Not perfect red lips, and definitely not as bright as they were when I first applied the color, but not lips I wouldn't leave the house with either.

And the most crazy thing about it? It didn't even take a drop to cover my entire lip!

Weekly Polish post vol. 1

I'm trying out this new way of posting my NOTDs - in a collective post once a week :)
I'd love to know what you think about doing it this way rather than posting all the NOTDs in seperate posts :)

Tutorial: Another MAC Dye-A-Tribe trend look! ;)

Since the MAC Dye-A-Tribe trend is all about color and blending, I'm having so much fun with it that I needed to do another video on it ;)

If you haven't seen the first video, I posted it here.

Keep reading for the tutorial, more pictures and list of products used :)

Haul & Swatches: OCC Lip Tars!

I finally gave in and ordered some of the famous Lip Tars from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics! ;)

I'll have a full review up later when I've had the chance to actually use them some more, but for now, I just have some swatches and first impression thoughts to share!

MAC Trend S/S '10: Dye-A-Tribe Tutorial

As promised, here's a tutorial for the MAC Dye-A-Tribe trend for spring and summer 2010! :)

Keep reading to see more pictures, the tutorial and list of products used :)

MAC Trend S/S '10: Dye-A-Tribe

Unlike the MAC Pale 'N' Dandy trend, Dye-A-Tribe is very much about color!
Color in an unexpected, but still very well done, way.
The trend focuses a lot on blending, and because of that, all the fun colors are still quite easy to pull off!

Keep reading to see my thoughts and advice on the Dye-A-Tribe trend! :)

Lemming: MAC stacker

I have a ton of purples already so I technically don't need this, but I'm still lemming the MAC Crushed Metal Pigments Stacked 1! from the Spring Colour Forecast collection.

This is sold out online (not on the UK site though), but the counter where I work still has it, and I'm sure some of you can sill find it at your local counters as well.

I've used these colors a few times at work, and I'm in love with the rose color and the light glittery purple.

Have any of you bought this?
What looks have you done with it?
Do you think it's worth buying?

Liberty of London look + tutorial

Whoa! This looks is quite shocking, isn't it?!
It's a (almost) NEUTRAL look! ;)

For this look, I used all the products that I got from the MAC Liberty of London collection, which I posted about here :)

Haul: MAC Liberty of London

I know that the Liberty of London collection is super old news to those of you in the US and Canada, but it actually isn't released here until April 15th! I was lucky enough to get my hands on some goodies yesterday though ;)

As always, I'm going to be honest with you here. I'm not a fan of the packaging in this collection. I might be the only one who doesn't like it but it's just not "me". Sure, it's cute and all, but idk... I'm not a fa.
I do have one nice thing to say about the packaging: Unlike the Dame Edna lipsticks, which had stickers on them, these little flowers and birds are actually printed on (if that's what you call it?) so they won't fall off ;)

NOTD: China Glaze Ruby Pumps

Another polish filled with sparkly amazingness!

I felt all nostalgic when I applied Ruby Pumps to discover that it looks very much like a better version of a crappy, but amazingly sparkly, red polish I had when I was little.

I remember being the happiest girl alive the day I got that bottle of sparkly red polish. Until I applied the color and it didn't show up on my nails that great.

But yayyy, Ruby Pumps look amazing - even on the nails! ;)

 China Glaze Ruby Pumps

I've been wondering about something concerning my NOTD posts...
I'm assuming that most of you aren't following my blog just because of the nail posts, since I'm not really that great with polish. However, I do enjoy painting my nails and lately I've taken quite a few polish pictures.
Do you care to see these nail polish posts?
Would you like me to keep doing every NOTD in a separate post like I've been doing or should I keep the nail posts to once a week/every two weeks and include all the different polishes I've worn that/those week(s)?

FOTD: Copper Sparkle look for work at MAC

I've had Copper Sparkle pigment for quite some time, but haven't really used it much, so I decided to do a look with it for work today :)

I kinda liked it better before I put on the black eyeliner though :/

Lucky Green tutorial

Remember this Lucky green look? :)

I got quite a few requests to do a tutorial for it, so here it is! :)

Friday, April 9, 2010

NOTD: Have you heard about water marbling?

I don't know if I'm the only one who hadn't heard of "water marbling" before, but if I'm not, I'd like so share something pretty cool with you!!

Thursday, April 8, 2010

I got something pretty in the mail again!

I love bright sparkly things in cute packaging and I'm happy to admit it!

NOTD: China Glaze Emerald Sparkle

I'd been wanting to get China Glaze Emerald Sparkle for the longest time and I'm super happy that I finally got it!
I'll completely agree with everyone who said it was amazing! :)

If you haven't seen it, I posted pictures of my entire (small) polish haul here :)

New Telephone tutorial! Lady Gaga in the jail scene.

I don't have much else to say than: NEW LADY GAGA TUTORIAL! ;)

Haha, I had to put that picture first!! ;)

Swatches: Yellow eyeshadows!

I got a request to swatch Suarpill's Buttercupcake next to MAC Chrome Yellow eyeshadow and Primary Yellow pigment.

When I had swatched those three I figured I might as well swatch all of my yellow eyeshadows for good measure! ;)

NOTD: China Glaze Flying Dragon

I just posted a haul here, and China Glaze Flying Dragon was the first one I wore!

Excuse the not so perfect polish job :)

This color is pretty unique. It didn't work for me at all without a top coat, since it dries to a very weird matte finish. Don't get me wrong, I usually really like matte nails, but I don't think the matte finish works with this color at all.
Nothing a top coat can't fix though! :)

I absolutely love how the glitters in this look when you apply a top coat! <3

Flying Dragon is from the 2008 INK collection.

HAUL: China Glaze and OPI

As some of you may be aware, China Glaze and OPI isn't available where I live. It might be possible to buy OPI at some salons, but they're crazy expensive. I'm pretty sure I saw them for around $30 once!

Ohh, the joys of online shopping! ;)

Swatches: Twi-Shadows from Glamour Doll Eyes

Glamour Doll Eyes isn't taking over my blog, I promise! ;) But I just got something exciting in the mail and wanted to share! ;)
These were the products I bought after receiving some to review, which I did here.

I got the Twi-Shadows, which are all inspired by characters from the Twilight Saga.

Keep reading to see swatches and my thoughts on each color!

Look + tutorial using Glamour Doll Eyes

As promised, here's a look and tutorial using a couple of the Glamour Doll Eyes products that I reviewed here :)
I also bought all the Twi-Shadows and just received them today, so look out for swatches of those pretty soon :)

Zoffe's favorites: March '10

So, in this post, I asked you if you would want to see posts featuring my monthly favorite products.
Most of you said, that you'd like to see my favorites in a blog posts, some said that they'd like to see them in a video and a couple didn't care to see the favorites at all.

For this first edition of my monthly favorites, I've chosen to do both a video and a blog post. I'm not sure if I'll continue to do it this way or if I'll stick to doing just one of the things.
I'd love to know your thoughts on this! :)

FOTD: I love Lucky Green!

I wore this look to work yesterday, and I actually really liked it :)

INs & OUTs! March edition

You might have seen "INs and OUTs" posts on other blogs, and for some reason I really enjoy reading those, so why not start doing them myself? ;)

I think it's going to be a monthly thing, but we'll see how it goes :)
