This look is basically just me playing around with the Evil Eye palette from the MAC Me Over! collection - hope you like it ;)

The things in the collection that stood out to me the most were definitely the blue and green fluidlines, but that's mostly because I'm pretty obsessed with fluidlines in general and don't have anything that looks like those two ;)

Overall, I do think MAC Me Over! is a really nice collection with something for everyone :)

We had a super fun MAC Me Over! event at the counter I work at and I got to do makeup on some lovely girls:) We took polaroid pictures of all the people we made over and put them on a big MAC Me Over! wall and I think it looked pretty awesome! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures to post on here :/

I'm loving the combination of red and purple at the moment, so it seemed like an obvious choice to use those colors when I had some time to play around with my makeup today.

I used my very favorite red eyeshadow: Sugarpill's Love+, but was quite surprised to see how pink it looked with the other colors. Oh well, I still think it's purrrtty :)

There are two different lip looks behind the cut - one version that's more matte and one that's more glossy. I did the matte one first, but while I liked the fading effect, I really didn't like how it looked with the eyes, so I ended up putting a gloss on top :)

MAC S/S Trend: Pop Classic

This post is pretty much the most productive thing I've done all weekend. But I have enjoyed some time off and feel just a little bit more ready to get started with the super busy week I have ahead of me.
Hope you all had a great weekend as well :)

Anyways, here goes the first post about the MAC Spring and Summer trends for 2011!

Spring just kinda went by a little too fast, but at least the post is in time for summer! ;)

"Classic shapes, uber saturated colour"

I've never been very good at saving the best things for last, and this is no exception - the Pop Classic trend is definitely my favorite out of the four MAC Trends for summer.

It's all about the one thing I love the most about makeup: Color!

OK, it's not just about color. It's about taking those super classy makeup looks like the bold, defined lip or the precise winged liner and giving them an edge by using unusual colors to do it - often by using blocks of color.

Think yellow eyeliner, neon pink, orange or green lips, blue smokey eyes and little mascara, if any at all.

Making it wearable
Even though you can do some pretty bold statement looks inspired by this trend, I actually find it quite wearable if you want to try color.
It's extremely easy to do, since you don't need loads of different products and shades - it's all about minimum product with maximum impact.

Oh, and we all know how less product = less time applying, so it's really super fast to do as well!

If the green lips scare you off, here's a couple of tips to help you try the trend without doing something too extreme:

Less is (sometimes) more. Definitely not something you'll hear me say very often, but it's very true in this case. If you're worried about those bright colors, just use a little at a time! :)
Don't start off with the green lips. Sure, this is very obvious to some, but you need to remember that the trends can be used as inspiration and that you don't necessarily need to copy everything about a specific look.
Smudging a bit of a bright eyeshadow on your bottom lashline while using neutral colors on the rest of the face will make the bright color stand out without being super overpowering.
Focus on one feature. Choose bright lips, bright liner, bright mascara or bright eyeshadow - that way it won't be "too much".
Tone down the trend but amp up your usual makeup. Sure, I can definitely understand why green and blue lips aren't for everyone! But why not use the bright lip trend as an excuse to try that bright pink that you don't usually go for? Or maybe something a little more on the purple side?

I suggest

Colored mascara. It can make a super neutral look a little bit more fun while still keeping everything very wearable - especially if you just choose a dark blue or a plum.
The only colored mascaras I've ever tried are the MAC ones that came out with Wonder Woman as well as a blue one from Rimmel, which you'll see me use in the tutorial for this trend.
Bright eyeshadows. I love Ben Nye, MAC, Sugarpill, Makeup Forever, Fyrinnae and lots of other brands for bright eyeshadows. Just pick a fun shade that you love :D I find green and purple to be good colors to start with if you want something bright but also quite easy to get away with.
Loose shadows. No matter if they're called pigments, effect powders, loose shadows or anything else, those bright, loose colors are great for this trend because of how easy they are to use wherever you want! Use them wet as an intense eyeshadow or liner, use a light dusting on the cheeks, mix them in with a lip gloss or do something completely different if you want :)
Lip tars! Well, any bright lipsticks or glosses will do just fine, but the Lip Tars from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics are simply amazing if you want to experiment with colors!
Gloss. Since this trend is so much about blocks of color, it can be hard to create depth and dimention in the makeup without adding texture to it. And what's better for adding texture than gloss? :) You could also try different glitters, cream color bases and liquid highlighters :)
Classy, bright lipsticks. Colors like MAC Morange, Lady Danger and Violetta are amazing if you want to venture into the world of bold, bright lips without doing something completely unheard of ;)

My (quick) thoughts:
Overall, I think it's a really nice summer collection! I'm in love with the eyeshadows and crushed metal pigments and I'm really impressed with the Studio Careblend bronzing powder so far. It goes on really nice and smooth and is quite easy to blend - even though I got the darker of the two colors and I'm super, super pale. I haven't used the Bronzer Stick yet, but I'm really looking forward to playing around with it :)
You probably all know that I'm not really big on bronzer, but I do like to experiment and try bronzing products every once in a while, so this is definitely a great opportunity for that :)

I wish I had gotten...
Hibiscus lipstick and the other Crushed Metal Pigments set! If only I weren't on a budget, haha! ;)

I always use Studio Fix powder when I'm in a hurry but still want to wear something on my face.
It's pretty easy to get nice coverage with it if it's used with a dense kabuki-style brush like the MAC #182, but it can be applied with a less dense brush for less coverage as well.
I usually keep it in my purse for touch-ups during the day (the little mirror inside the compact is pretty handy for that as well).

You obviously don't need to be as crazy as me, and get the highest SPF available, but please, please, please take good care of your skin and remember to put on sunscreen :)

I've had these pictures on my camera for weeks, but haven't gotten around to posting them.

I did this look using mainly products from the MAC Quite Cute collection, which I was pretty excited about - mostly because of Candy Yum-Yum, which is the most amazing, matte pink lipstick. Ever.

I wasn't really excited about the eyeshadow palette at first, but after using it a couple of times, I actually think it is exactly what it's supposed to be: cute ;)
The pastel colors are great for spring, and even though they're far from being the most pigmented shadows I've ever used, they work well for certain looks, especially if paired with more pigmented, matte shades to give the looks some depth.
All I used besides the eyeshadow palette in this look was actually a colored base in the crease!
And I'm honestly surprised at how much I like the pink color in the palette! Definitely my favorite of the four :)

Doing makeup on my sister :)

My 13 year old sister wants to wear makeup for an upcoming event, and has asked me to do it.

So, what kind of makeup do you do on a 13 year old?
She doesn't usually wear any makeup besides mascara, so I wanted to do something sweet and natural.

This past weekend, we did a little "trial" and I think the look we ended up doing is really nice on her! The gold liner makes it a little more fun than your standard super-neutral look but without being overpowering :)

1: Make Up Store Magazines

Sure, this might be a bit of a weird "favorite product" but I thought it deserved to be featured anyway! I just got the latest issue of the Make Up Store M Magazine this minth, and it's super inspiring as always!
I only wish they'd do them twice a month instead of twice a year! ;)

2: Colored mascara

I got my hands on blue, purple and green mascara when the MAC Wonder Woman collection came out, and I love them!
Colored mascara is awesome for adding a little color to a quick, neutral look but they also add a nice touch to colorful looks.
I don't think they're as dramatic as black mascara, but they're definitely fun!
Out of the three colored MAC mascaras, I'd say that the green one is the most fun and the purple is the most neutral.

3: Make Up Store "Hectic" eyedust

I've been using a lot of greens lately - probably because I love how green makeup looks with red hair!
My newest favorite green shadow is this one by Make Up Store.
I think I've complaned about the packaging of the eyedusts before, so I won't do that again here... Okay, I'll complain a little... I CAN'T SEE THE COLOR WHEN IT'S CLOSED AND IT'S HARD TO OPEN!!! Okay, I'm done -.-
But the color! Ohhh, the color <3
I used this in a tutorial last week, so check the look out here if you haven't seen it :)

4: Purple lips <3

Just like my recent love for green eyeshadows, my new obsession with purple lip products came with the red hair.
Again, I just really, really love the contrast!

The two products I've been using the most have definitely been Katricia Lip Tar from OCC and Violetta lipstick from MAC PRO. Yum!

5: MAC Cremeblend Blushes

I only have Tea Petal out of the 6 new Cremeblend Blushes from MAC, but I'm basically in love with the formula of these!
I can honestly say that I didn't expect to like this color on me, but I'm happy to say that I was wrong!
Since they're super easy to blend, it's easy to apply a sheer layer if you don't want too much color, but the colors are definitely very buildable as well, which I think makes them great to use on all different skin tones!
My favorite brush to use with these is a duo fiber brush like the MAC #188, since the synthetic fibers prevents the brush from "soaking" up too much of the creamy product, while the natural hair help blend the product.

6: MAC Beet Lip Liner

Beet is amazing for the brows if your hair is the same color as mine. That's pretty much all I have to say.

I like to apply a small amount of the liner on my brow and smooth it out with an angled brush like the MAC #266 - sometimes I'll even use MAC Breezy blush on top.

7: Revlon colorstay foundation + Benefit Moon Beam

Long lasting, super matte foundation with great coverage + glowing liquid highlighter = glowing, long lasting foundation with great coverage!

Just mix in some Benefit High Beam with your matte foudation ala MAC Studio Fix Fluid or Revlon Colorstay, and that's exactly what you'll get!

Isn't that what everyone wants?!

Obviously, it isn't what everyone wants. It isn't even what I want every day. But it sure does look great!!

Only downside is that I'd use the Moon Beam up pretty quickly if I used it in my foundation every single day...

8: CRACKLE!

I can't help it. I'm loving crackle polishes. Like everyone else, basically...

As sad as I was when the Crackle polishes from China Glaze sold out online before I got a chance to buy them, just as happy was I when I found these little Depend crackle polishes in a store yesterday! I'm quite happy with the OPI Black Shatter as well, but I can't help but feel a bit cheated, since I bought it for full retail price here in Denmark. I won't even talk about how much that is -.-

I can't really decide if it's cheating to include products that I just bought in a monthly favorites post. But hey, that's how much I'm on love with these, so I'll do it!

9: Affinage Hotshotz in Red Chilli

I got this from a friend of mine who's a hair stylist, and this product has pretty much saved my red hair!
I put this in my hair about once a week when I'm in the shower and it does such a great job at brightening up my red hair!
The first time I dyed my hair red after having it super light blonde, the color turned into an ugly faded pink in about a week. Okay, maybe two weeks, and I do realize that it had a lot to do with me putting red dye in bleached hair - but it faded really fast nonetheless ;)
Since I started using this, I've only had to dye my hair because of visible roots and not because of fading!

And that'll be the end of my first "Favortes of the month"-post in what seems like forever!

New crackle polishes from Depend: Cracked Effect!

I'll admit that I have absolutely no idea when these crackle polishes from Depend came out, but I just found them at a shop today and acted all too crazy and excited ;)

I got a blue(5002), a red(5004), a pink(5003) and a white(5000).
I saw a purple one at the shop as well, but I didn't get it - mostly because it looked more like a dark purple than a super bright one, which is what I would have preferred :P

I'm sorry I don't have a swatch of the red, but I figured it'd be ugly on top of the light blue polish I had on, haha! :P

What's crackle polish?
If you've been living under a rock for the past few months, crackle polish is a type of polish that cracks/"crackles" when it dries, which makes it look awesome on top of other colors, since the color you use as a base will peek through the cracks in the crackle polish.

Different crackle effects
The cracks in the polish will be different depending on how thick a layer you apply and in which direction you apply it.
A thick layer will result in wider cracks, but a thin layer will give you finer cracks.
If you look at the nail that I used the white crackle polish on, you can see that I only applied a thin layer on the sides of the nail, but accidentally applied a thick layer in the middle which gives quite a different effect as a result.
I applied the crackle polish like I would have applied a normal polish, but if you apply it in a different direction (like zig-zag, for example), you'll get a different pattern in the cracks.

I did this look for work at MAC this past Saturday. It's amazing what makeup can do, really! I slept for just two hours the night before, and I still managed to look (and feel) awake ;)

OK, so the makeup isn't actually "matching" my new hair at all, but I definitely did the makeup with the hair in mind. I just love greens and purples with red hair! :)

Since today is December 1st, which means it's World AIDS Day, I decided to do a giveaway for a MAC Viva Glam I lipstick!

For some weird reason I don't seem to have a swatch picture of the lipstick, but you can see what it looks like in the video below! :)

I had so much fun doing this look!
Like I say in the video, the look was inspired by a look from an old Make Up Store magazine, which you can find on page 106 here.
I've looked at that picture so many times without ever trying to recreate it but I'm so glad I finally did! :)

I rarely recreate other people's looks but I get inspired by them very often :)

It's that time of year...

The time of year when I get way too excited about little things like Christmas decorations, Christmas food, Christmas presents... Or anything related to Christmas in general ;)
Because it's almost December!

80s Child from Glamour Doll Eyes!

About the collection
The collection consists of 10 colors, 4 of which I have to show you!

Each color is $9.00 and you can get the whole set for $72.00.
Samples of these colors are not available.

The 80s Child collection is a Special Edition, meaning different packaging and new colors, but the shadows are not limited! Don't you just love when companies bring out new colors that actually get to stay?! :)

The colors in the collection were inspired by different characters from children's TV shows from the 80s, so 80s Child is a great name for the collection.
I was super excited about these colors, partly because I usually always enjoy GDE but definitely also because of the theme for the collection! And I'm actually not even an 80s child myself... Schh! I was born in 1990! But hey, I've still watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and played with Barbie dolls a lot ;)

The packaging

Unfortunately, the name on my Mutant rubbed off because it got wet :/

These special edition shadows come in different packaging from the regular GDE eyeshadows. The lids on these are pink, the jars are 10 gram jars(regular GDE shadows come in 5 gram jars) with sifters and they contain 1 full teaspoon of product!

It says on the GDE site that "They have pink lids (because they are cute) with a funky plastic sticker on the top that says Glamour Doll Eyes" and I'm loving it!

Dry swatches were done on top of ArtDeco eyeshadow base at the bottom of the picture and without a base at the top of the picture.
Wet swatches were done by using a wet layer of the color first and padding a dry layer of the color on top.
