Collective Haul: MAC, OPI, GOSH

My super sweet colleague Marie Louise went to Hamburg this past weekend and she was sweet enough to bring me a couple of things form the To The Beach collection (which isn't being released here until June 15th for whatever reason), and I'm really excited!
She also brought me an OPI polish that I'd been wanting and a nailpolish remover with a pretty interesting smell... ;)

This post is both the things Marie Louise brought me from Hamburg but also a couple of things I've picked up at MAC at home as well as a few GOSH things I just found on sale today :)

Swatches: Yellow eyeshadows!

I got a request to swatch Suarpill's Buttercupcake next to MAC Chrome Yellow eyeshadow and Primary Yellow pigment.

When I had swatched those three I figured I might as well swatch all of my yellow eyeshadows for good measure! ;)

Zoffe's favorites: March '10

So, in this post, I asked you if you would want to see posts featuring my monthly favorite products.
Most of you said, that you'd like to see my favorites in a blog posts, some said that they'd like to see them in a video and a couple didn't care to see the favorites at all.

For this first edition of my monthly favorites, I've chosen to do both a video and a blog post. I'm not sure if I'll continue to do it this way or if I'll stick to doing just one of the things.
I'd love to know your thoughts on this! :)

POTD: GOSH Rainbow nailpolish

I've mentioned this polish before, but it's been a while so I think I can do it again now :D

Confused about POTD? Read this post :)

It's such a gorgeous polish! It has a clear base with multi-colored flakes.
The magic doesn't happen when you apply this polish by itself though - it needs to be layered on top of something else to really make it work :)

It works with pretty much any color!

My favorites are on top of a black like China Glace Liquid Leather

or on top of a dark purple like China Glaze Let's Groove

I took pictures on top of a lot more colors, so keep reading if you want to see! ;)

Recent makeup buys :)

Here's a little picture of some of my recent makeup buys :)

I've gotten:

Style Warriors:
  • MAC Pink Rebel, Sun Rush and Bronze Hero lustre drops
  • MAC Bright Future and Night Maneuvers eyeshadows
  • MAC Brave New Bronze l/s
  • MAC Gold Rebel l/g (not pictured 'cus I couldn't find it?)
  • MAC Scatterrays and Bronzescape solar bits

I'm really excited about the items I got from this collections! I love the lustre drops and I'll have a tut using them up soon.Brave New Bronze is one of my favorite nude colored lipsticks and it's even prettier with Gold Rebel on top!

  • Clinique sun-care body cream SPF 50

I'm looking forward to trying this. I like that it doesn't smell like the usual sun screen but I'm hoping it won't feel gross and oily like most sun screens do.

  • Sally Hansen Diamond Shine top + Base coat

Another product I haven't tried before. I'm always looking for a top coat that will make my nailpolish last longer... Hopefully this will!
  • Bobby Brown Red Plum lip crayon (w/ sharpener)
  • Bobby Brown Tawny blush
I've heard good things about Bobby Brown so I wanted to try it out for myself. These colors are not something I'd usually pick out for myself but they were on sale so I wanted to give them a try.
  • MAC Most Popular l/s (LE w/ Hello Kitty '09)
  • ArtDeco eyeshadow base
Because I'm almost out of my old one ;)
  • GOSH "Love that purple!" eyeshadow stick
I hadn't tried the GOSH eyeshadow sticks before but they reminded me a lot of MAC shadesticks (only these are available in many more colors than the shadesticks now) so I wanted to try them out. I've used this twice and while it doesn't last on its own it lasts well on top of another base and it applies smoothly.
  • GOSH ON STAGE #100 cool lip jam
I've been looking at this product for some time and finally got it when I found it on sale today. It looks white in the tube but has kind of a blue duochrome/pearl to it so I'm excited to try this on top of different lipsticks! :)
Another reason to be excited about this, is that it's actually a unique GOSH product and not some dupe of a MAC or Makeup Store product.
  • GOSH 570 Peachy and 546 Rainbow nailpolishes
I gave in and bought a coral colored nail polish! And I couldn't help buying Rainbow as well since it's super pretty with orange-y flakies :)

GOSH Cosmetics: Hot'n Sweet

Hot'n Sweet is the autumn/winter collection by GOSH cosmetics and I am absolutely in love with it!

Click on the picture to get the full sized version including the description of the collection

The products in the collection are:

Extreme Art Eyeliners:
- 06 Olive Green (Part of the permanent line): Olive green eyeliner that I bet would look amazing with dark green smokey eyes!
- 15 Fuchsia (Limited Edition): Reminds me a lot of MAC Fuchsia pigment in eyeliner form when swatched - only a little more on the purple side. When I actually used it on my eye it reminded me more of MAC Pink Pearl pigment in eyeliner form. Take a look at the swatc and the look I posted! :)
- 16 Warm Red (Limited Edition): An orange-y red. I really liked this but I think most people would have a hard time pulling this color of as eyeliner. Would be fun for nail art though :)
- 17 Light Purple (Limited Edition): I don't think this color is anything special. Might be fun for people who wants to try colored eyeliner but don't want something too dramatic.

Light'n Shine Lip Glaze:
- 01 White Bear (Limited Edition): Clear gloss with pink sparkles
- 02 Rapid pink (Limited Edition): When I swatched this at the store I thought it was more red than pink. It has some super awesome pink and blue sparkles to it.

Eyeshadow Quads:
- Q43 HOT (Limited Edition): Contains the colors Charcoal(black), pink(soft baby pink), paprika(orange-y red) and Oyster Pearl (white with a little pink pearl to it)
- Q44 Sweet (Limited Edition): Contains the colors Plum (Dark plum), Silver ( dark grey silver), Lime Green (light green. Doesn't remind me of a lime, though), Moss(Olive green)

Effect Powders:
- 04 Pinkie (Limited Edition): Soft baby pink with a silver shimmer to it. Reminds me of a mix of MAC Fuchsia pigment and MAC Swish eyeshadow
- 05 Plummy (Limited Edition): Dark plum color.
- 06 Greeny (Limited Edition): Dark olive green. I could imagine the hottest smokey eye with this, a dark black and the Olve Green eyeliner!

What the products are:

Extreme Art Eyeliners:
These eyeliners were recently added to the permanent collection and are a lot like MAC liquidlast liners: SUPER water- and smudgeproof!
They last extremely well for both eyeliner and body art and can also be used for nail art(just remember to use a top coat!)

Light'n Shine Lip Glaze:
A lot like MAC Dazzleglass! The glitter particles are the same size(very small) so while the glitter adds a lot of shine and depth to the lips it doesn't look like a cheap glitter gloss with huge glitter chunks.
The gloss has a little mirror on the side and has lights(!!) in the lid. While it's a cute idea I really don't know when I'd use it...

Eyeshadow Quads:
Eyeshadow palettes with four different eyeshadows and a sponge tip aplicator. I love the GOSH single eyeshadows but I rarely think the quality and color payoff of the colors in the quads are the same.

Effect Powders:
If you know MAC pigments you'll know what effect powders are too ;)
They're loose makeup colors that can be used wet or dry anywhere you want to. You can even add them to your body lotion/face cream/foundation for an all over glow or use them in nail polish or hair gel!

What I got:

If I had had the money I would have gotten everything except maybe the quads... Especially the other gloss and effect powders! But I managed to limit myself to three things:
The "White Bear" lipgloss, the "Pinkie" effect powder and the "Fuchsia" eyeliner.

Swatches of White Bear, Fuchsia and Pinkie

And a comparison swatch with Pinkie, MAC Fuchsia pigment and MAC Swish eyeshadow

All swatches of pigment, effect powder and eyeshadow were done on top of ArtDeco eyeshadow base.
